Barbra Streisand's 2012 Hometown Concerts Celebrated on "Back to Brooklyn" CD, DVD

PRNewsFoto/Columbia Records, Russell James, Copyright BarwoodA new CD and CD/DVD set documenting Barbra Streisand's celebrated 2012 concerts in her hometown of Brooklyn, New York, will be released on November 25Back to Brooklyn features highlights from two shows by the legendary entertainer that marked her first musical performances in Brooklyn since she was 16.

Back to Brooklyn offers a career-spanning selection of songs, including some of Streisand's classic hits, various standards and nine tunes she'd never sung in concert before.  The shows feature tribute medleys to songwriters Alan & Marilyn Bergman and Jule Styne and composer/conductor Leonard Bernstein.  Also included is an homage to late "The Way We Were" composer Marvin Hamlisch, who died while Barbra was preparing for the Brooklyn concerts.

In addition, the concerts feature Streisand collaborating with a number of guest artists, including the Italian vocal group Il Volo and renowned jazz trumpet player Chris Botti.  Another highlight is Barbra's duet with her son, Jason Gould, on the song "How Deep Is the Ocean."

The DVD offers several bonus features, including a video biography titled I Remember Barbra, a gallery of photos of Streisand's early years in Brooklyn and a solo performance by Gould of the memorable Leon Russell tune "This Masquerade."

Meanwhile, an upcoming installment of PBS' Great Performances will feature footage from the Back to Brooklyn DVD.  The show will premiere on November 29 at 9 p.m. ET (check your local listings).
