Reps for Chris Brown say the singer “has elected to enter a rehab facility.”
The announcement comes just days after Brown and his bodyguard were arraigned on a single count of misdemeanor assault in Washington, D.C., following their arrest Sunday for an incident in front of a hotel in the city.
The statement from Brown’s reps continues, “His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point."
The type of rehab was not disclosed by the reps, but sources tell TMZ.com that Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos, drove the singer to a Malibu rehab facility for treatment of anger management issues.
Brown is still on probation for a 2009 domestic violence incident involving his then-girlfriend Rihanna, and the Washington arrest may violate that probation. Some observers note that entering rehab could be a move by Brown to mitigate his new legal worries.
