Stream "12 Years a Slave" Soundtrack Featuring John Legend and Alicia Keys

Columbia Records

John Legend and Alicia Keys are among the artists who have contributed to the official soundtrack album inspired by the newly released drama, 12 Years a Slave, and now you can check out their contributions online for free. Every track from the upcoming release is currently streaming at RollingStone.com.

Legend, who was tapped to curate the official soundtrack, lends his voice on a song called "Roll Jordan Roll," for the movie, which he describes as "a stunningly powerful film."

"I was so moved when I saw it. I felt every minute of it and was so inspired to contribute to the music of the soundtrack,"says John in a statement. "This album brings together some incredible artists from different places and different genres who have all been touched by the film. When artists are inspired by great art, it makes us want to create. This album is the result of that inspiration."

Alicia Keys contributed an original song called "Queen of the Field (Patsey’s Song)," which focuses on Lupita Nyong'o's character, Patsey, who yielded the most cotton among other slaves on the plantation. "Born to cry, born to die, born to nothing/ Queen of the Field, born among cotton/ Life wasted picking, back broke from whipping," Alicia sings on the somber track.

The soundtrack album will be released digitally on November 5, followed by a physical release on November 19.
