We already knew that Rihanna was part of an upcoming animated film, which was originally titled Happy Smekday, but is now going by the name Home. But now we know who'll be playing her mother in the film: Jennifer Lopez.
As previously reported, the movie is about a friendly alien race which uses Earth as a hideout from its enemy. But when one of the aliens accidentally blows their cover, he has to go on the run with a teenage girl. The two set off on a cross-country trip during which they both learn what it means to be human. Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons plays the alien, and Rihanna plays the girl. According to The Hollywood Reporter, J-Lo has come on board to provide the voice of the girl's mom, while Steve Martin will play the leader of the alien race, Captain Smek.
The film, which is an adaptation of a book called The True Meaning of Smekday, is due November of 2014, but Rihanna has already recorded her part -- last December, in fact. She tweeted at the time, "So weird recording for animation, but I get to keep my accent! AND it's PG, which mom should be happy about!"
In real life, J-Lo is technically old enough to be Rihanna's mom, but she would've had to have given birth to her at the age of 19. The question remains, if Rihanna is going to keep her Barbados accent, will J-Lo then have to put on a Barbados accent as well? Guess we'll find out next year.
