During a recent interview, Mariah Carey described her time on the American Idol judging panel as being like "going to work every day in Hell with Satan." Now, one of the current judges on the show has taken to Twitter to rib her about her comments.
Harry Connick Jr., who with Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban make up the current panel of Idol judges, started off by joking about what Mariah said, tweeting, "when spoke of 'satan' she wasn't referring to . it was . he's hot and plays the hell out of the guitar."
Connick then added, "hey - must've been hard to judge in hell... XIII is heaven!" He included Jennifer, Keith, Ryan Seacrest and ex-judge-turned-Idol mentor Randy Jackson on that tweet.
After Harry got some irate comments from Mariah fans, he tweeted, "btw, i LOVE !!! no hate for that sweet lady - i just feel bad that she didn't have what we have - the best ever!"
It remains to be seen whether the 13th edition of the show will be, as Harry claims, "the best ever." American Idol 12 was plagued not only by inter-judge squabbling, but by lackluster contestants and plunging ratings. The new season premieres January 14.
So far, Mariah hasn't responded to Harry's comments. At any rate, she also claimed in the original interview that she was just joking.
