Date with Ed Sheeran Up for Grabs; May Involve Sushi & Tattoos, But No Dancing

Credit: Christie GoodwinHey, want a date with Ed Sheeran?  For an extremely small amount of money, you can enter to win a chance to have dinner -- and more -- with the Grammy-nominated singer, and you can support a good cause at the same time.

Ed is offering himself up as the prize in a fundraising drive for the charity "F Cancer," which educates the younger generation about early detection, prevention and communication about cancer, so they can learn about the disease, as the charity puts it, "in a way that isn't scary or embarrassing."  F Cancer has set up a page at the fundraising site Prizeo.com, with a goal of raising $250,000 in the next month or so.  That amount is the Vancouver-based charity's entire operating budget for 2014.

All you have to do is make a donation -- as little as three bucks -- and you'll be automatically entered to win the grand prize.  You and a friend will be flown from wherever you live to join Ed at one of his favorite restaurants; it'll either be in New York, L.A. or London.  You may also end up scoring some VIP tickets to one of his concerts next year.  In a video asking fans to donate, Ed says of the dinner, "It's not gonna be KFC or Olive Garden...it'll be a nice place.  We'll go get some sushi and pretend that we're, like, y'know, old."

As for what else the date might involve, Ed adds, "I'd say we'd dance, but I'm no good at dancing, so you can dance and I will sit in the corner feeling awkward, which is like most days."  He also promises "a lot of uninterrupted eye contact and awkward silences," as well as the possibility that he'll FaceTime with your friends, and also take you to get matching tattoos.

"We could go to a Japanese restaurant and stick chopsticks in our mouths and sing 'I Am the Walrus' by The Beatles -- I do that a lot," Ed adds in the video.

And the more money you donate, the more cool Ed Sheeran items you're guaranteed to receive: everything from a lyric sheet that Ed will sign and dedicate to you, to autographed photos, a thank-you card from him, a video message from him, T-shirts and more.  Visit Prizeo.com to see a list of goodies up for grabs.

"Help out a good cause...come on a date with me," Ed says in the video. "It will be fun, I think. You'll enjoy it. So will I."
