Billy Joel is heading back to New York City's Madison Square Garden for his first full-length show at the famous venue since his record-breaking 2006 run of 12 consecutive sold-out performances there. The new concert, scheduled to take place on January 27, 2014, marks the sixth upcoming tour date that the Piano Man has lined up.
Tickets for the show will go on sale to the general public this Saturday at 10 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster. Citi Card members can buy pre-sale tickets starting Wednesday at 10 a.m.
As previously reported, Joel has scheduled a New Year's Eve gig at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and will also play four shows at various locations in Florida in January. Visit BillyJoel.com to check out his full itinerary.
After taking time off from the stage to recover from double hip surgery, Joel has slowly returned to performing over the past several months. Last spring, he played a music festival in Australia and performed at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. In mid October, he did an intimate charity show near his home in Long Island, New York, and he recently wrapped a series of tour dates in the U.K. and Ireland.
Joel's last appearance at Madison Square Garden came on December 12, 2012, as part of the star-studded 12-12-12 benefit concert for Hurricane Sandy victims.
