Last Thanksgiving, Colbie Caillat was busy promoting her holiday album Christmas in the Sand, and she spent a big chunk of the holiday performing at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year, things are quieter for Colbie -- since her new album isn't coming out until next year, she'll truly be able to celebrate the holiday the way it's meant to be.
"I get to be home with my family and I'm hosting at my house and there's going to be like 30 of us," Colbie tells ABC News Radio. "We're going to have a lot of food, and play a lot of games, and we're going to have some arts and crafts, and just say what we're thankful for. And it's going to be fun to be together and not be traveling."
The food involved will be slightly unique, though, since Colbie is a vegetarian, and she won't be chowing down on turkey. Still, she has her favorite Thanksgiving dishes. "I love gravy...so my sister, she's been making an amazing veggie gravy for a couple of years now," explains Colbie. "She taught me how to make that, and mashed potatoes...cauliflower mash, and dessert. I love dessert so I'm going to be baking a lot."
And what's her specialty when it comes to baking? "Muffins and cupcakes and [I've'] been trying to get into pies," laughs Colbie. "But I'm brand new, so they don't turn out great all the time!"
Colbie performed Tuesday night on the season finale of Dancing with the Stars. Her new single "Hold On" is out now; her album's due in the spring.
