Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have had one heckuva 2013, with three big hits, a huge tour and several major awards. But in 2014, the duo plans to retreat into the studio and start working on the follow-up to their album, The Heist.
Macklemore tells the Dallas Observer that he's been writing on the road, while Ryan has been "making beats...over this last month" using the mobile studio on their tour bus. "That's been going well, so I'm excited to wrap the tour and get back in the studio when that time comes," says the rapper.
And when will that time come? Well, Macklemore also told Rolling Stone that in March, after the duo complete their scheduled shows in Australia and Asia, they're going to "be in the studio for a long time" and "work until we have something to present to the world."
As for the rest of 2013, Rolling Stone also claims that the duo has a "a planned appearance at the Times Square ball drop on New Year's Eve," but so far, no network has announced them as a New Year's Eve performer. After that, the rapper says he and his fiancee will take a well-deserved vacation somewhere outside the U.S. where, he says, "We'll be in a place where no one knows who Macklemore is."
