While David Bowie may not be interested in supporting his latest album, The Next Day, with live performances, the influential rocker has been starring in quite a few videos promoting his new music. Bowie now is appearing in short film titled L'Invitation au Voyage, which is part of a new ad campaign for French fashion house Louis Vuitton.
The surreal clip shows American model Arizona Muse arriving in Venice, Italy, in a hot-air balloon and then heading to a fancy party where most of the attendees are wearing Renaissance-era costumes. At the bash, Bowie is seen performing his song "I'd Rather Be High" from The Next Day on a harpsichord as the party-goers dance about. Suddenly, Muse finds herself all alone in the same room, which is now dark. She notices a Louis Vuitton purse on the harpsichord, picks it up and then is seen traveling down a Venice canal in a vintage sailing galley.
L'Invitation au Voyage, which translates to "The Invitation to Travel," was directed by Romain Gavras, whose credits include videos by rappers Kanye West & Jay Z and M.I.A. The clip is part of a longer film that's scheduled to premiere online on Friday.
