YG Talks "My Hitta"; Announces Release Date for Debut Album, "My Krazy Life"

Def JamYG's hit single, "My Hitta" peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #5 on the Billboard Hot Hip-Hop/R&B Songs chart, achievements he didn't anticipate when he first started working on the track with one of it's featured guests, Jeezy.

The West Coast rapper explained to ABC News Radio how the DJ Mustard-produced song came together with another guest, Rich Homie Quan in Atlanta.

"I was working with Jeezy, he was in the studio and they told me that Rich Homie Quan was the next one out the A, so they wanted me to link with him and get in the studio," he says.

After getting in touch with Quan, YG recalls "vibing out" with the southern rapper. "I played him the joint and I told him the first, like, couple of lines of the hook I had, so he took that, he came with the rest of the hook and then after that we did our verses and it was a wrap," YG says. "Jeezy heard it and was like, 'Oh yeah, that's one.'"

The song appears on YG's debut album My Krazy Life, which is due in February.  Despite the success of "My Hitta," the rapper tells ABC News Radio that he feels no pressure to out-do his radio hit on his upcoming effort, because he's focused on album that's strong from start to finish.

"I got a complete album, I'm confident in it, I got follow-up singles, and there's just not like any singers," he explains. "My album is like a day-in-the-life piece. It's like from the top of the morning to the end of the night."

So what can fans expect? "When my album drops, you gonna get everything and the people are going to love it, because ain't nobody doing what I'm doing, they can't do it," YG says.

Featuring the new single, the Drake-assisted "Who Do You Love," My Krazy Life arrives on February 25, 2014.
