Melissa Etheridge Planning 25th Anniversary Documentary, Box Set, New Album & More

Valerie Macon/AFP/Getty ImagesIt's hard to believe it, but it's been 25 years since the release of Melissa Etheridge's acclaimed debut album.  According to her manager, the singer plans to mark that anniversary with a slew of new releases and more.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Melissa recently took on a new manager, Larry Mestel, who tells the publication, "We're looking at a 25th anniversary plan that includes a very modern studio record, which we’re hoping to have out by summer, and a documentary which will coincide with a box set."

He adds that they're also talking about "various residencies"  -- meaning extended series of concerts in one place -- as well as "other branding alliances."  "It will be a very busy 2014" for Melissa, he promises.

Melissa, who was just seen on the Grammy Nominations Live! special helping to announce this year's nominees, put out an album last year called 4th Street Feeling.  She's currently working in support of Uprising of Love, a movement that opposes Russian's anti-gay laws.  Other stars involved include Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Jim Parsons, Edward Norton, Julianne Moore, Sigourney Weaver, Rob Reiner, 'N SYNC's Lance Bass, Glee's Chris Colfer and Bravo's Andy Cohen.  Melissa has also written a song called "Uprising of Love" as part of her involvement.
