New Vinyl, New Oscar Contender, but No New T-Shirt for Paul McCartney

MJ Kim/MPL Communications LtdChristmas is right around the corner, and for the Paul McCartney fan in your life, you can now purchase a high-quality vinyl version of NEW, McCartney's latest album.  The 180-gram vinyl edition, which arrived in stores today, also comes with a download card for owners to access a free digital version of NEW as well.

Accessing a new T-shirt apparently was high on McCartney's to-do list Monday night.  He was in Brooklyn, N.Y., watching the hometown Nets play the Philadelphia 76ers, and during a break in the on-court action, an enthusiastic McCartney was spotted gesturing for one of the shirts being launched into the crowd.  He was seen mouthing "That was mine!" to a fan near him who caught one.

McCartney ought to start thinking about what he might want to wear at the next Academy Awards.  "Cut Me Some Slack," which he co-wrote with former members of Nirvana for the Sound City documentary, is among the 75 songs eligible to receive Oscar nominations this year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced.  Final nominations will be announced Jan. 16.  The Academy Awards ceremony will air March 2 on ABC.
