It's been quite a while since we've heard former Journey singer Steve Perry wrap his golden voice around a new song, but that apparently is about to change. Aaron Bruno, frontman of the popular alternative-rock act AWOLNATION, says Perry has lent his talents to the group's upcoming sophomore release.
"We became friends," Bruno tells Rolling Stone with regard to how the collaboration came about. "It feels weird for me to talk about -- I feel like I'm bragging about how this legend likes the music I've written. But he asked for my number. He reached out to me."
Bruno's description of the new material he's written for his band's forthcoming release sounds like it could be right up Perry's alley. He tells Rolling Stone that he's got nine songs ready for the album, noting that the tunes are "a little bit more reflective, more about human relationships."
A title and release date for the album has yet to be announced.
