Photo: Rob ShanahanBack in November of 2012, Ringo Starr announced that he'd lent his voice to a new episode of the popular Cartoon Network series The Powerpuff Girls.  Now, that show finally is going to air.  Starr will be featured in a special titled Dance Pantsed, which celebrates the 15th anniversary of The Powerpuff Girls' debut.  The show will premiere on January 20 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT.

The former Beatles drummer will portray a character named Fibonacci Sequins, who happens to be "the most flamboyant mathematician" in the Powerpuff Girls' home city of Townsville.  The plot of the special revolves around the villainous monkey Mojo Jojo, who plans to kidnap Fibonacci and other Townsville citizens as part of a plot to steal Chemical X, the substance that helped create the cartoon superheroines.

Starr also will be featured in a music video in the episode performing an original song called "I Wish I Was a Powerpuff Girl."  The special, which will boast updated CG animation, also will feature the program's original voice actors reprising their roles.

The Powerpuff Girls originally ran on the Cartoon Netwoork from 1998 to 2004.
