Donovan to Headline New York City Beatles Festival in February

Courtesy of DonovanFolk-rock legend Donovan has signed on to headline the 2014 New York City edition of the Fest for Beatles Fans event, which will be held February 7-9 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.  The festival will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Fab Four's historic first visit to New York and debut performance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Donovan, of course, was good friends with The Beatles during the 1960s and accompanied them on their famed spiritual quest to India to visit the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.  The singer/songwriter will host a discussion titled "Meditation and the White Album," and also will perform with the Fab Four cover band Liverpool.

Other stars scheduled to appear at February's Fest for Beatles Fans include Peter Asher of Peter & Gordon, Chad & Jeremy, Billy J. Kramer, The Smithereens and Mark Rivera, music director and member of Ringo Starr's All Starr Band.  In addition, longtime Beatles secretary Freda Kelly, the subject of the new documentary Good Ol' Freda, will be on hand.

Other activities and events planned for the festival include a walking tour of Beatles-related sites in New York, trivia and singing contests, a memorabilia auction, photo and art exhibits and much more.

Tickets for the festival are on sale now at Discounted advance tickets are available until January 17.  Other Fest for Beatles Fans events also will be held in Chicago this August and in Los Angeles this October.
