Paul Rudd hosted Saturday Night Live for a third time over the weekend, and in his monologue, the Anchorman 2 actor joked that he always gets overshadowed by the musical guest when he hosts. Beyonce was the guest the first time, then Paul McCartney, and now, One Direction.
On cue, One Direction made their way out on stage, but Rudd wasn't having it. This time he was prepared. Rudd brought in his own band -- the cast of Anchorman 2. He said, "You've got your boy band, well, I've brought my man band." Then, out came Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and David Koechner.
Ferrell said to the five British heartthrobs, "Why don't you beat it, Menudo?" Carell chimed in, "Why don't you kids go sit on Santa's lap and ask for a pair of balls?"
Eventually, they all made peace and sang Starland Vocal Band's "Afternoon Delight" together, and Rudd proclaimed, "We are Nine Direction!"
One Direction later performed "Through the Dark" and "Story of My Life."
