Former Wings Guitarist Henry McCullough Suffers Brain Damage, Band Mate Says
Photo: Ronnie NortonFormer Wings guitarist Henry McCullough has suffered "some significant brain damage" according to his former Wings band mate, drummer Denny Seiwell.
As previously reported, McCullough suffered a heart attack last November. Seiwell gave the website SomethingElseReviews.com the sad update on the guitarist's condition, resulting, he said, from a lack of oxygen to McCollough's brain during the heart attack. He says the McCullough's long time partner Josie is praying for a miracle. "Josie is very hopeful,” Seiwell says, “but some of the doctors, according to friends, don’t think that he’s going to have much of a recovery. He’s going to need constant care the rest of his life.”
The 69-year-old musician played with Paul McCartney and Wings from 1971-73 and was a member of Joe Cocker’s Grease Band and Spooky Tooth. He also performed with Cocker at the Woodstock festival in 1969.
