Ringo Starr Holds Art Exhibit During Down Under Tour

Rob ShannahanRingo Starr's computer generated art will be exhibited from February 16 to April 28 at the Silver K. Gallery in Melbourne, Australia.  Sales of his art benefit his Lotus Foundation that assists several social welfare projects.

"For seven years I've been putting out my computer art for the goodness of my soul," he tells TheAustralian.com.  "I love to play drums in the band, but this is another side of me," he says. "As long as people enjoy it ."

The pieces are images of faces, peace signs and stars have names such as "Hold Me Love Me," "Ringo Rama" and "I Feel Hot."  Prior to the exhibit, Ringo and his All Starr Band will perform February 7 and 9 in New Zealand, his first performances in Australia since The Beatles tour in 1964.  Starr remembers that year he had tonsillitis and had to be replaced on the tour.  Jimmie Nicol played drums on the first date in Australia, then Starr recovered and flew to Melbourne for the next show.
