The new season of The Voice kicks off in March, and this time around, Adam Levine says that he really wants to win -- not because he wants to launch the career of a promising new singer, but because he wants to wipe that smile off Blake Shelton's face.
"I need to shut his mouth," Adam tells Access Hollywood about his fellow coach, whose team members have won the show twice. "I need to win so I can shut his face."
Adam was victorious in the show's first season but has taken a backseat to Blake the last two seasons. "I just want him to fail. It has less to do with my success. I just want to see him lose," rants the Maroon 5 frontman.
But what about the other two coaches this season, Usher and Shakira? Where do they fit into the Adam-Blake equation? "Shakira and Usher have been fantastic," Adam tells Access. "I know that Usher, he’s going to get crazy competitive, which I love. I love that. Shakira is finding her way. Don’t underestimate Shakira. She’s got claws… Good, competitive claws."
Helping Adam to defeat Blake this season is Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott, and she knows quite a bit about music reality shows: she tried out for American Idol, twice. She didn't make it, who cares? Now she's a Grammy-winning platinum-selling star. Hillary says her advice to Adam's team is: "Don’t give up. If it’s really what you’re supposed to be doing, there’s gonna be more than just that way."
