A variety of audio and video packages featuring performances from Love for Levon, last year's star-studded tribute concert for late Band singer/drummer Levon Helm, will be released on March 19, according to Billboard.com. The show, which took place October 3 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, boasted performances from Eric Church on "Get Up Jake and "A Train Robbery" as well as Dierks Bentley on "Rockin' Chair" and "Chest Fever."
Roger Waters, Gregg Allman, Joe Walsh, Band keyboardist Garth Hudson and gospel/soul great Mavis Staples are among the other performers featured on the bill. The concert also featured a rotating cast of musicians, including members of The Levon Helm Band, that served as the backing group for the various performances.
Like the show itself, the audio and video collections will raise money to help the Helm family maintain Levon's barn studio and performance space in Woodstock, New York, which has continued to host the ongoing series of concerts called the Midnight Ramble Sessions.
Love for Levon will be available as a two-CD set as well as in DVD and Blu-ray editions. There will also be CD/DVD and CD/Blu-ray combo packs in addition to digital audio and video format editions. The video editions will contain bonus footage, including interviews with many of the participating artists.
In advance of the release of Love for Levon, a high-definition version of the concert film will premiere on AXS-TV on February 17. The video also will be shown on PBS stations during the network's spring pledge drive.
