Dierks Bentley is climbing to towards the top of the country charts with his latest single, "Tip It on Back," but he nearly missed putting the song on his latest album, Home. It was actually the last song he heard that ended up making the final cut of the album.
"You kinda reach a place where you’re like, 'I’ve listened to every song out there. There’s no more songs to listen to,'" Dierks explains, "and then you hear one like that, and you’re like, 'Man, this is a great song.'"
Though Dierks didn't have a hand in writing "Tip It on Back," he's certainly done enough research in the drinking department over the years.
Dierks says with a laugh, "There’s a lot of things you get good at over the years of playing the road and being able to appreciate the fine spirits, all of the spirits, is one of those things."
The safest bet for Dierks is sticking to light beer, but he adds, "I really don’t discriminate."
Dierks will likely tip back a few beverages after his performance with Miranda Lambert on Sunday night's Grammy Awards. The broadcast starts at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS.
