There are only eight years separating Selena Gomez and Katy Perry, but it's apparently a lifetime to Selena, who says she admires the older singer for not being jaded about romance at her advanced age.
Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, Selena, who split with Justin Bieber not long ago, says, "I believe in love -- yes, I'm one of those girls. Most of my friends believe in love. I went out with Katy Perry last night. She's so fun and awesome, but it's cool to see someone older believe in love too. She is all about it, and that's how I will always be."
Selena says that it was "super important" to both her and Justin to make their relationship "as normal as possible," adding, "That's how it should be." Now that she's single, though, Selena admits, "I don't get asked out a lot." The beautiful singer and actress says she thinks it's because she normally looks like a slob and, she says, "When I actually look presentable, I'm at an awards show."
She adds, "I do not give a damn what I look like, I don't. I wish I could pay attention because Gwen Stefani, say, looks flawless...when I'm on red carpets, I'm nervous, sweaty and weird."
With no man in her life right now, Selena says she's thankful for the support of her girlfriends, like fellow star Taylor Swift. "It's great to just pick up a phone and call Taylor and say, 'I have people following me, and I'm having a bad day,'" she says. "If I were to say that to someone else, it's like, 'Oh, boo hoo.'"
