Major League Baseball on Tuesday night showed support for the people of Boston following the explosions at the Boston Marathon -- with a little help from Neil Diamond.
Neil has a strong connection to the city -- "Sweet Caroline" is played during the middle of the eighth inning of every Boston Red Sox home game. The fans enthusiastically sing along to it, especially the chorus.
As a tribute to Boston, the team's chief rival, the New York Yankees, played the classic after the third inning of their home game on Tuesday night.
Neil tweeted and wrote on his Facebook page, "Thank you NY Yankees for playing 'Sweet Caroline' for the people of Boston. You scored a home run in my heart. With respect, Neil #OneBoston."
The Chicago Cubs also played "Sweet Caroline" during the middle of the eighth inning of their home game Tuesday night.
