Stevie Nicks had gone on record as saying that Reese Witherspoon would be the perfect choice to play her in a movie about her life. However, Nicks has now nixed the idea, saying that Reese is too old for the role.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight Canada, Nicks says of the 37-year-old actress, "I’ve already told her she’s almost too old [to play me].”
The Fleetwood Mac frontwoman adds, "I love her, but she’s like, ‘I could play your mother.’ I’m like, 'Okay.'”
This is all conjecture, of course, since there isn't any biopic in the works about Nicks' life. Instead, the singer is busy promoting her documentary about the making of her most recent solo album, In Your Dreams.
Despite her "advanced," age, Witherspoon may still be a great choice to play Nicks. After all, she does know a thing or two about playing legendary musicians on film: she won an Oscar for playing country music icon June Carter Cash in the movie Walk the Line. She can also sing: she sang in Walk the Line, and she even duets with Michael Buble on his new album.
