Florida Georgia Line's "Get Your Shine On" is providing the soundtrack to a lot of country fans' spring breaks this month, so you may be surprised to learn the song was written around Christmastime. The duo's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley were getting ready to go to their publishing company's annual holiday party when Tyler came up with the title line, "Get Your Shine On."
Brian, Tyler and their two songwriter buddies set off writing the song very quickly.
Says Brian, "I think we wrote it in an hour and a half. Started drinking beer after and enjoying it. It’s one of those songs -- just like “Cruise” -- that came together really quick."
Not all songs are written with that kind of speed though. Brian adds, "You really gotta count your lucky stars and thank the songwriting gods when it does happen quick."
In other Florida Georgia Line news, "Shine" is now the bestselling digital single by a country duo in history according to Yahoo! Music's Chart Watch. The set has sold more than 2.7 million copies, surpassing Sugarland's "Stuck Like Glue," which has sold 2.6 million copies.
