The I.R.S. isn't the only one waiting for Lauryn Hill to make good on a debt. The singer's landlord is coming after her for money, too, according to TMZ, which reports that Lauryn stopped paying rent on her South Orange, New Jersey, mansion last month.
Lauryn's been renting the pad since 2009, but now that she's behind on payments, her landlord wants her out. An eviction lawsuit that was filed in March demanded that Lauryn cough up the cash or hit the road, and since she hasn't done either, legal proceedings are moving forward, according to TMZ.
Lauryn certainly has enough to worry about already. Next week, she'll be sentenced after pleading guilty to failing to file three years' worth of income tax returns. The mother of six faces several years in federal prison, but she reportedly is hoping for probation.
Lauryn said previously that she'd stopped filing taxes only because she felt it was necessary to withdraw from society out of concern for the safety of herself and her family.
