Allman Brothers Band Schedules Late Summer Trek; Steve Winwood to Open Select Shows

Courtesy of The Allman Brothers BandThe Allman Brothers Band has mapped out a late-summer U.S. tour leg that kicks off in August after the Southern rockers host their second annual Peach Music Festival.  The newly announced shows will run from a two-night stand, August 20-21, in Chicago through a September concert in Wantagh, New York.

Steve Winwood will open most of The Allmans' August performances while Grace Potter and the Nocturnals will be the support act for the four gigs the group has lined up in September.

"This will be a good little run," frontman Gregg Allman says about the forthcoming tour.  "We've always loved Steve and we've been listening to a lot of Grace's stuff, so I imagine we're going to have a bunch of fun together."

As previously reported, the 2013 edition of the Peach Music Festival will be held August 16 and 17 at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  The Allman Brothers Band and founding Grateful Dead singer/guitarist Bob Weir's group RatDog will perform on both nights of the extravaganza.  The festival's lineup also includes The Black Crowes, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and many others.

Another Allmans-related event taking place in the coming weeks is the Roots Rock Revival, a special music camp scheduled for June 3-7 in Big Indian, New York.  Allmans drummer Butch Trucks and bassist Oteil Burbridge will participate in the camp, which will feature lectures, classes, jam sessions and concerts.
