Cher's new album is finally complete. The singer tweeted in all caps Monday, "I JUST FINISHED MY CD." The first single, "Woman's World," will be out in June, with the album to follow in September. It's Cher's first album of original material in more than 10 years.
In recent months, Cher had expressed frustration with the project, complaining that she wanted to release the disc earlier but was being prevented from doing so by her record company. Responding to a fan who asked about how long the album was taking to come out, a clearly upset Cher tweeted, "If U think ANYONE HAS COMPLETE CONTROL OVER THEIR LIFE, U NEED 2 GROW THE FK UP. AS A MATTER OF FACT, YOUR DISAPPOINTMENT PALES IN COMPARISON 2 MINE. RECORD CO Wants 2 put it out AFTER SUMMER ! SHOOT ME."
The album is expected to include a duet with Lady Gaga that was recorded quite some time ago, as well as songs written by Pink. Christina Aguilera also is rumored to appear, but that hasn't been confirmed. On May 1, Cher will be featured on ABC's Nightline, being interviewed by Cynthia McFadden.
We also may be able to see Cher on the American Idol finale next month. Ejected contestant Lazaro Arbos told reporters that plans are in the works for him to duet with her on the telecast.
