Country music legend George Jones died at the age of 81 on Friday in Nashville after being hospitalized April 18 with a fever and high blood pressure. The singer/songwriter may have made his greatest impact on the country charts, but his music influenced and inspired artists from many genres. A wide variety of stars have taken to Twitter and other online outlets to pay tribute to Jones in the wake of his passing, including some luminaries from the rock world.
Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx took to Twitter to write, "RIP George Jones. What a huge loss to music."
Poison frontman Bret Michaels posted a message on his official site, saying, "My heartfelt prayers go out the family, friends and fans of George Jones. He will be missed by everyone and his influence on music can't be matched. I grew up listening to his music, reminds me of my youth and camping trips with my parents."
Southern rock veteran Charlie Daniels tweeted, "Rest in peace George Jones. There will never be another one like you and we'll miss you a bunch Buddy."
Lastly, Rage Against the Machine guitarist and Bruce Springsteen collaborator Tom Morello wrote, "RIP country titan George Jones. Raw honest music."
