Longtime Ramones drummer Marky Ramone and his current band, Blitzkrieg, have hired hard-partying rocker Andrew W.K. to be their frontman on an upcoming world tour. In an announcement posted on the singer's official website, Ramone explains why he decided to team up with Andrew.
"I first met Andrew through a mutual friend and he told me about his party philosophy, which has also always been my exact take on life," notes Marky. "We went into the rehearsal studio and it just clicked. We had so much fun that we wanted to invite everyone to the party."
Andrew W.K. adds, "I've never had a more rewarding, humbling, or challenging invitation than this, and I'm serving the gods via this incredible sound Marky and his band created. There's never been better rock 'n' roll music made than this, and I will give everything I have to do it justice."
Fans who attend the upcoming performances can expect to hear more than 30 "classic fan-favorite songs" from throughout Ramone's career.
Tickets for most of the newly announced gigs will go on sale on Friday. Here are all of Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg's confirmed U.S. tour dates:
