Taylor Swift's a modern girl for sure, but when it comes to decorating, she looks to the past. The singer loves old things with a history, and that's why her Nashville condo is full of unique finds, from antique birdcages and knicknacks, to a 1913 Steinway piano. That's also why she's been photographed browsing in antique stores in cities around the globe.
Explaining her preference for the vintage over the modern, Taylor says that whether it's a big antique warehouse with "a bunch of stuff," or "a little antique store that’s been around for years," she'll always find something that captures her imagination.
"They just have really interesting things in there and the people who work behind the counter are always really interesting and have really cool stories," Taylor explains. "I don’t know, I find all these things really interesting in those stores."
Among her favorite things to browse through, Taylor says, is something that she's seen in many stores in her travels: old photos.
"They’ll have like a box...on the counter of these old black and white pictures," she says. "I love looking through old pictures and you can find a lot of those in antique stores. And of course Mason jars, ‘cause you can buy a few of those and put candles in them.”
Since Taylor's RED tour will be taking her all across North America until September, she'll have plenty of cities with plenty of antique stores to browse -- that is, if she manages to get any downtime. She'll perform at Detroit's Ford Field this Saturday, May 4.
