Furthur Cancels Festival Appearance Citing Bob Weir's Condition

Facebook.com/FurthurBandFurthur has announced that the band is canceling its headlining appearance at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival, scheduled for May 9.  The announcement comes less that a week after singer/guitarist Bob Weir's onstage fall April 25 in Port Chester, New York.

A statement on the band's website reads, "Due to unforeseen circumstances, Furthur regretfully will be unable to appear as scheduled at BottleRock Napa Valley on Thursday, May 9.  Grateful Dead & Furthur Co-Founder Bob Weir, is unable to perform in any capacity for the next several weeks.  Furthur featuring Phil Lesh & Bob Weir look forward to returning to the road as scheduled on July 11 in Brooklyn for their Summer tour, which carries them through early October on the West Coast."

Weir fell while the band was performing "Unbroken Chain" after appearing incoherent throughout the show, struggling to play and to remain standing.  When Further returned to the stage without him, bassist Phil Lesh announced that Weir was suffering from a strained shoulder.
