Listen to Eric Burdon's New Duet Version of the Animals Classic " Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood"

ABKCO RecordsYou can now hear Eric Burdon's new version of his 1965 Animals hit "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" online.  An official lyrics video for the song, which is the lead track from the upcoming compilation album True Blood: Music from the HBO Original Series Volume 4, has been posted at ATO Records' YouTube channel.

The tune, which features Burdon duetting with former Rilo Kiley vocalist Jenny Lewis, offers up an atmospheric take on the original song, with sparse instrumentation and echo-laden percussion.  The track will be heard during the upcoming season of the campy, vampire-themed HBO series.

"True Blood has gotten under my skin by way of osmosis," says Burdon in a statement.  "When I was asked to record a new version of 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' for the new season with Jenny Lewis, I had to bite."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer adds, "Ms. Lewis has an incredible voice…The song seems to have stood the test of time.  It runs through my veins and Jenny gave it a nice, fresh transfusion of energy."

True Blood: Music from the HBO Original Series Volume 4 will be released on CD on May 28, while a vinyl version is due out in mid-June.  The 14-track disc also features Iggy Pop, Los Lobos and late blues greats Howlin' Wolf and Koko Taylor.
