Like rats deserting a sinking ship, another American Idol judge has -- reportedly -- decided to leave the show.
Following the news that Randy Jackson would be leaving the show, an insider tells Us Weekly that Nicki Minaj also will not return to the competition for Season 13. "It's safe to say she isn't coming back to Idol," says the insider, noting that the rapper wants to focus on her next album, tour and endorsement deals. "She's okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway."
Rumor has it that judges Keith Urban and Mariah Carey will also be leaving the show this season, as Fox comes up with ways to freshen up the veteran show to make it more competitive with the likes of The Voice. Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly told reporters that news about the show's next season will be announced on Friday.
Fox tells ABC News Radio it has no comment on the US Weekly report.
Asked in March if she would do another season, Nicki told reporters, "I think people would rather be surprised. I like to save the mystery and the drama, I'd never give that away." She added, "I always say this and I mean it from the bottom of my heart, that just the people behind the scenes at Idol have been a dream to work with."
