Deep Purple Pays Homage to Classic Horror Films in Video for New Tune "Vincent Price"

Photo: Jim RaketeDeep Purple has debuted a campy and creepy new promotional video for "Vincent Price," the last track on the band's recently released studio album, Now What?!  The clip follows the adventures of an attractive young couple who enter a haunted-house attraction only to find themselves transported into an actual black-and-white horror movie.

Interspersed with segments of Deep Purple rocking out in the spooky mansion, the video shows the young man and woman being terrorized by a vampire, the Frankenstein monster and a mummy.  During their ordeal, the guy himself gets wrapped up in mummy's bandages, while his lady friend winds up transforming into a sexy stripper donning a very scanty outfit along with part of a nun's habit.  As for the band members, they don't escape unscathed, winding up as wax statues.

"Vincent Price" will be released as the latest single from Now What?! on June 7.  It will be available for purchase as a limited-edition seven-inch single on clear vinyl, and as a part of a five-track digital and CD release.  The vinyl will include the Now What?! outtake "First Sign of Madness" as the B side.  The digital download and CD singles, meanwhile, also will feature "First Sign of Madness," as well as the "Vincent Price" video and two rare tracks from the out-of-print deluxe CD version of Deep Purple's 2005 Rapture of the Deep album.
