Whether it was Taylor Swift winning a bunch of awards or Justin Bieber pleading his case to be taken seriously as an artist, the Billboard Music Awards received a boost in ratings from the year before.
The three-hour ABC telecast, hosted in Las Vegas by former 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan, averaged 9.5 million viewers on Sunday night, according to Deadline. That’s a 28-percent increase from the 2012 ceremony.
Taylor was the big winner, taking eight awards including Artist of the Year, while her latest release, RED, took Top Billboard 200 Album honors. Kacey Musgraves and The Band Perry also performed on the three-hour show.
