Health issues have forced Eric Clapton to take an unplanned break from his current tour of Europe. The guitar legend has had to cancel two shows this week -- last night's scheduled performance in Vienna, Austria, and tonight's concert in Stuttgart, Germany -- because he's suffering from "severe back pain."
A message on his official website reports that Clapton currently is being looked after by "specialists who will be able to better determine the course of treatment." The three-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee sends out apologies to fans who have been inconvenienced by the cancellations and thanks them "for their understanding." Those holding tickets for the nixed concerts can return them for full refunds at the proper box offices.
Clapton has four more shows left on his European itinerary -- this Friday in Oberhausen, Germany; Saturday in Cologne, Germany; next Tuesday in Nurnberg, Germany; and next Wednesday in Prague, Czech Republic. No word yet if Eric's illness will affect those gigs.
