Just a few weeks after reportedly undergoing a liver transplant, Lou Reed is set to participate in a special interview event being held on June 20 at the Grand Audi Theatre in Cannes, France. The innovative rock artist will be the focus of the Grey Group advertising agency's Seventh Annual Legends of Music Seminar.
The former Velvet Underground frontman will discuss the many aspects of his life as a musician, writer and artist during the Q&A session, which will be conducted by Grey Group executive Tim Mellors. The seminar is taking place as part of the 60th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, which celebrates all the various forms of creative communications. It runs from this Sunday through June 22.
Meanwhile, Reed has posted a new message on his official website and Facebook page, directed at both the medical facility where his surgery was performed, and to his fans.
"I would like to thank the Cleveland Clinic and all of you around the world who have lifted me with prayer and wishes of love," he writes. "Your support has buoyed me forever and I am deeply grateful. I am also really up and strong. Thanks to your spirit."
