You saw Bruno Mars debut his new single "Treasure" live at last month's Billboard Music Awards. Now he's released the video, which sees him and his band taking a trip back to the '70s, disco ball and all.
The deliberately low-fi clip, which Bruno co-directed, starts with a shot of a gold disco ball, and then we see Bruno and the band on a soundstage surrounded by retro-looking lights. They're all sporting bright-red suits, animal print shirts and gold chains and perform a dance routine while they're singing and playing.
Next, we see some cheese-tastic '70s-era special effects come into play, as Bruno and the band dance while surrounded by psychedelic multicolored swirly patterns. Bruno also starts singing to a beautiful woman wearing a short red dress -- it kind of looks like the kind female characters wore on Star Trek in the '60s -- a braid, and a headband. Next, we see her dancing alone in a field of stars, as Bruno and the band sing while surrounded by geometric laser shapes.
The clip ends with Bruno and the band back onstage. The retro vibe of the video perfectly matches the retro disco vibe of "Treasure," which critics have compared to Donna Summer, Michael Jackson and Prince.
Bruno's announcement of the video on Twitter was his first communication to fans since last week, when he thanked them for their support following his mother's sudden death. The singer's Moonshine Jungle tour kicks off June 22.
