Jay-Z Is Now a Certified NBA Agent looks like Jay-Z is one step closer to actually representing clients of his newly-built sports agency, Roc Nation Sports.

Ron Berkowitz, a spokesman for Roc Nation, confirmed to that as of this week, Jay-Z is now licensed to work as an NBA agent.

It’s not exactly clear how soon Jay can begin representing players. A source tells ESPN that as of now, Jay-Z hasn’t sold his one percent share of the Brooklyn Nets. Owners of NBA teams are not allowed to represent players, but speculation is that Jay might be able to sign players as long as he agrees to sell his share in the near future.

The first NBA player Jay-Z’s expected to sign is Oklahoma City Thunder small forward, Kevin Durant, who recently informed his agent that he was going to sign with the rapper.

Jay-Z's firm has already signed New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith and former Notre Dame guard Skylar Diggins, who was recently selected third by the Tulsa Shock in the WNBA draft. Roc Nation also is reportedly also close to signing New York Giants’ wide receiver, Victor Cruz.

Jay-Z used a three-minute TV ad during halftime of last Sunday’s NBA Finals game between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs to promote his new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, out July 4.
