Most music fans associate Lindsey Buckingham with the relatively mellow-rock sounds of his longtime band Fleetwood Mac, but he's apparently taken an unexpected creative detour by lending his talents to the upcoming album by industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails. RollingStone.com reports that the renowned singer/guitarist is one of the guest artists featured on NIN's Hesitation Marks, which is due out September 24.
No specific details have emerged regarding Buckingham's contributions to the album. Other notable musicians who reportedly appear on the record include longtime Who touring bassist Pino Palladino and former King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew. Belew also initially had been expected to take part in Nine Inch Nails upcoming tour but announced earlier this month that he'd dropped out of the group.
Buckingham, meanwhile, currently is on the road with Fleetwood Mac, whose North American trek winds down July 6 in Sacramento, California. The band will follow that with a European leg that runs from late September until late October, and then a just-announced tour of Australia and New Zealand scheduled for November and December.
