Sorry, lambs: you'll have to wait a while longer for Mariah Carey's new album. The singer is pushing back the release of The Art of Letting Go, which was originally slated to come out July 23.
"While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23," she tweeted. "I'd rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it's meant to be heard. When I'm ready, you'll be the first 2 know!"
Mariah's fans don't seem to mind -- she retweeted a couple of responses, such as, "take all the time you need beautiful!!! We'll always support you!" and "We can wait. Your creativity is A+Mazing. Cant wait to hear the album when its all finished :)."
Despite delaying the album's release, Mariah is still keeping her promotional schedule. She'll perform on this Sunday's BET Awards, along with her duet partner Miguel, plus Justin Timberlake and her old American Idol nemesis, Nicki Minaj. She's also doing a free concert next month in New York City's Central Park. However, Mariah's canceled a scheduled Friday appearance on ABC's The View.
