Hunter Hayes scores his first #1 on Billboard's Country Albums chart this week with the re-release of his debut album, Hunter Hayes (Encore). The project features his latest hit, "I Want Crazy," which came from a few sessions intended for Hunter's upcoming sophomore album.
In an effort to get the song out to fans faster, Hunter and his team came up with the idea for the deluxe edition of his debut album. The idea of re-releasing his debut album with new and re-recorded songs was strange for the 21-year-old star at first.
Hunter says with a laugh, "'Crazy' kind of sums up the concept. It sums up the concept because it is crazy for me to do an (Encore). To do the deluxe edition. I don't know. It may become a thing, but for now it's weird, and I didn't know we were going to do it."
Now that (Encore) is doing so well, Hunter had a little more time to prepare for a proper sophomore album. He's currently thinking and writing for the project, but Hunter isn't rushing the process.
"In my mind, it's a ways away," Hunter explains. "I'm not saying it's years off, but in my mind, creatively, I can't think of it that way."
