Kelly Clarkson's latest single, "Tie It Up," is decidedly country, and it looks like her upcoming Christmas album will follow suit on a few tracks. Kelly posted a picture on Twitter earlier this week hinting at a collaboration with country stars Reba and Trisha Yearwood. It turns out they were celebrating Christmas in the July in the studio.
Kelly explains, "I can't believe that Reba and Trisha agreed to do a trio with me on it. So, they're doing 'Silent Night,' and it's gonna be so epic. I'm so excited."
Kelly also snagged Ronnie Dunn, formerly of country duo Brooks & Dunn, for a duet on the classic holiday duet, "Baby, It's Cold Outside."
"He is like one of my favorite voices of all time," Kelly says of Ronnie. "He's so soulful, and that song, if you know Ronnie Dunn, is so his personality. Like, it's straight up his personality to say all of that to try to get you to stay and have a drink."
Kelly's pop fans shouldn't worry she's going completely country this time around. She points to Bing Crosby's White Christmas and Mariah Carey's 1994 holiday album, Merry Christmas, as other influences on the project.
"I'm a nerd about Christmas music," Kelly admits. "There's so many Christmas CDs that I just am in love with. So, I was really excited about making it."
We'll keep you posted on any further details about Kelly's holiday album.
