Mariah Carey hasn't made a quick recovery from the injury she suffered earlier this month during a video shoot. Her husband Nick Cannon says the diva is still suffering the after-effects of a dislocated shoulder, bruises and a cracked rib.
The TV show Extra quotes Nick as saying, "It is a severe injury. She still has nerve damage. She can’t really move her arm right now...she can’t really hold anything yet, that’s going to take a while…lots of physical therapy.”
Mariah herself taped a lengthy voice message for fans earlier this week in which she had her physical therapist Samantha explain that the singer's injury was quite serious, and that it'll take some time to heal, but that she's "really good and is smiling through the pain." "She's strong and she will be back. She will be back," Samantha added.
In the message, Mariah also told fans that despite her pain, she was "in the studio for five hours" putting "the finishing touches" on her new album, which was originally supposed to have come out this month.
"One thing I'll tell you is, I'm working on this album and I am getting this thing done," states Mariah. "This is two years in the making of what I've been through, emotionally and every other way. Everything happens for a reason, and here we are."
She promises that the album is coming "very soon, date to be announced real soon," and adds, "I love you guys so much and I appreciate you more than you will ever, ever know. I really, really...have to give you all my love and appreciation."
Mariah also promises to share footage of her performance in New York City's Central Park earlier this month, during which she sang with her arm in a sling, as well a new dance remix of her hit "#Beautiful."
