What are you doing New Year's Eve? If you're a Britney Spears fan, you may want to consider booking a plane ticket to Vegas. The singer's long-awaited residency in Sin City is now targeted to begin the last week of December, according to the Las Vegas Sun.
An executive for Caesars Entertainment tells the paper's Robin Leach, "We honestly hope now to see her two-year residency run start in the week leading up to New Year’s." The executive cautions that if the work that's being done on the Planet Hollywood theater falls behind, that may change, but the show will "definitely start early in the first quarter of next year."
Another executive told Leach that Britney is "ready and raring to go," and the delays in officially announcing the residency have all been due to "legal and accounting people" on the Caesars end. "Britney and her people have been wonderful to work with," dishes the exec. "She's been very patient."
A member of Britney's production team tells Leach that she's been "dancing with possible choreographers," and there are discussions underway about the show's concept and director. Rumor has it that Jamie King, who worked on Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson shows, may be tapped to direct the show, since he was also in charge of her Circus and Femme Fatale tours.
Whatever the details, everyone's excited that Britney's finally coming to Vegas. "She's going to be a big hit and a big win for the Strip," one source told the paper.
