The Eagles are set to take flight again! The band's History of the Eagles tour gets under way tonight at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The trek celebrates the recent release of the documentary of the same name, as well as the group's 40th anniversary.
In a new Q&A with Louisville's Courier-Journal, singer/drummer Don Henley revealed a bit about what's in store for fans who come out to the concerts.
"This tour will definitely be different," says Henley. Noting that the shows will include "some stripped-down, intimate, musical moments harkening back to our very first rehearsals in a shack in [California's] San Fernando Valley."
He also reports that "a former band member will be joining us for part of the show," referring almost certainly to founding Eagles singer/guitarist Bernie Leadon.
In addition, the 65-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer says the band will showcase "new arrangements of familiar tunes," while the concerts also will boast a brand-new stage design and updated. He adds that "the visual aspect of the show is something that we are very excited about."
Henley also suggests that the trek, which is expected to run for about two years, might be the Eagles' final tour.
"By the time we get through this tour, it'll be 2015 and we'll all be in our late 60s," he points out. "It's been a magnificent experience for all of us, but it may be time to say adios and bow out gracefully."
The North American leg of the History of the Eagles tour is plotted out through a November 23 show in Orlando, Florida.
