Ringo Starr Wants You to Share His Birthday Message of "Peace and Love"

Rob Shanahan/Universal RecordsRingo Starr's 73rd birthday is today, July 7, and the famous drummer is asking fans to give him a present, sort of.

It's not that the Beatles legend needs anything, it's that he wants to use the occasion to share his message of peace and love.

In a video posted to his website, Ringo asks fans to stop on Sunday "at noon, wherever you are, if you could please go, 'Peace and love, peace and love, peace and love,'" he says flashing the peace sign.  He adds, "That would be great."

Starr also is encouraging fans to share his video message -- apparently shot in his backyard garden, where birds are chirping.  According to a statement from Ringo's rep, the rocker is taking the summer off from touring to spend time at home in England with friends and family.  He'll be back out on the road again at the end of October for a Latin American trek before hitting Las Vegas for two shows at The Palms on November 22 and 23.
