After a couple false starts, fans will finally be able to see Jennifer Hudson star in the upcoming biopic Winnie Mandela, later this year.
Image Entertainment announced its acquisition of domestic distribution rights for the flick, which also features Terrence Howard, who portrays Nelson Mandela.
"Both Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard deliver powerful performances that depict the lives of two influential people of our time. They are a force to be reckoned with on screen, showcasing the Mandelas’ journey through their struggles and triumphs," Bill Bromiley, chief acquisitions officer for Image Entertainment said in a release.
IMDB.com describes the Darrell Roodt-directed movie as a "drama that chronicles the life of Winnie Mandela from her childhood through her marriage and her husband's incarceration."
The film will reportedly hit theaters on September 6.
